‘87-’89
*Attended meetings of Planning Commission, City Council; sent letters and petitions. Opposed building condominia on Cubberley Field, in favor of retaining open space.

*Supported retaining neighborhood characteristics of Charleston Shopping Center; played role in preventing 2d story housing on buildings there.

84-’89
*Facilitated exchange of information between GMCA and Santa Clara Valley Water District in accordance with neighborhood concerns about deepening, widening and concreting Adobe Creek.
July ‘90
*Successfully persuaded City of Palo Alto to repair Adobe Creek Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge (closed after 10/89 quake) prior to next school year.
‘90-’91
*Attended all 15 public hearings, Planning Commission and City Council meetings regarding Cubberley Community Center Master Plan. Sent letter and 505 signature petition listing 10 neighborhood concerns, coordinating efforts with Save Cubberley Park Committee. Master Plan was adopted by City Council, meeting all 10 GMCA concerns.

*City Council stipulated GMCA be represented on the Advisory Committee for Cubberley it established.

‘91-’98
*Continuing representation of GMCA interests regarding improvements at Cubberley, especially for athletic fields.
‘92
*Cooperated with Walnut Grove residents to have City Council adopt a design acceptable to all parties for new bicycle bridge over Adobe Creek (existing bridge removed in creek improvement project); present bridge represents joint input.
‘92-’93
*Supervised effort of GM I,II & III to obtain single story designation.Distributed ballots to 270 homes, tallied 236 returned. Assisted in sending hearing notices to all 270 homes and those within 300 feet of GM borders. Spoke at Planning Commission and City Council meetings.

*Single story zoning overlay approved by Council 3/15/93.

‘93-’95
*Attended numerous meetings of Council-established Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, participating as appropriate, often at CPAC members’ request.
'94
*At invitation of Mayor Kniss, Civic Affairs Committee co-chairs were among original members of her committee to arrange a June Town Gathering and Ice Cream Social with City Council at Mitchell Park as part of PA Centennial celebration.

*Represented neighborhood interests at meetings of 21st Century Committee to plan closing event of PA Centennial at Cubberley 10/8/94.

*Helped community urge US Postal Service to open a local substation.

‘95
*Established Street and Sidewalk Safety Task Force to deal with issues of new stop signs, neighborhood street lighting, street striping,overgrown trees and bushes, scoff-law drivers, etc. City was responsive to GMCA concerns.

*Organized panel of PAUSD speakers before June election on $143M school bond measure and Candidates’ Forum for November election.

*Helped establish GMCA Disaster Preparedness Committee.

‘96
*Began monitoring PAUSD’s Building for Excellence program, especially plans for new JLS Middle School and traffic consequences on E. Charleston.

*Established School Issues Task Force, which continues to function effectively.

*Invited by City Manager June Fleming to have four GMCA members meet at Cubberley with her and the City’s Senior Management Group to discuss matters of neighborhood interest. Escorted Group on walking tour of GM.

‘97
* Attended numerous PAUSD meetings, commenting on plans for new JLS Middle School and on traffic safety issues on E. Charleston.

*Informed City Council of GMCA ‘s position favoring connection of Sand Hill Road to El Camino Real but not across to Alma.

'97
*Urged Santa Clara Valley Water District to clean lower reaches of Adobe Creek as protection against possible El Nino-caused flooding.

*Attended many meetings concerning City’s proposed historic preservation ordinance.

‘98
*Hosted meeting with PAUSD Supt. to discuss school development plans. At numerous meetings, GMCA members gave input about JLS, Fairmeadow, Hoover and traffic. In response to GMCA concerns, City agreed to hire school crossing guard for E. Charleston at Carlson intersection. *Hosted meeting with three members of City Council to discuss traffic problems, possible neighborhood design compatibility ordinance and other issues.

*Attended meetings regarding plans for updating Mitchell Park and for the future of the County’s Spangler School site.
